My Pouch is ready to send off to my secret partner for the Sew Delicious Sweet Pouch Swap.
I loved Roslyn's idea and of course I was going to sign up. You make a pouch, zip it up with some yummy sugary goodness such as chocolate or lollies (candy for the American readers) and send it off to another crafty soul somewhere in the world.
I'm pretty sure that there are well over 100 crafty participants in this swap! If you'd love to have a look at some other wonderful pouch creations, you can check out the Sew Delicious Flickr Group.
This swap was a great way for me to have more practice with zips and to eat more chocolate!
I got the inspiration for this felt pouch from The Adventures of Blue Girl tutorial. I really loved the scalloped edges used in the tutorial, but the scalloped edge scissors that I brought especially for this project failed to cut through the felt nicely. So instead I used my trusty old pinking shears. The effect is still pretty cool.... but you can pretty much guarantee that I'm now on the hunt for a heavy duty pair of scalloped edge scissors!
I wanted to keep any embellishments fairly simple as to not draw attention away from the pinked edges around the zipper. So hand stitched some circles that I'd cut out from a doily onto the felt with embroidery thread.
I'm quite happy with how it turned out and now need to go shopping for more supplies so that I can make a few for myself! Now all that's left to do is pop in the yummy chocolates that I've chosen and send it on it's way to it's recipient!!!
Are you joining in with the Sweet Pouch Swap?

ReplyDeleteIt's very nice Cass and what a beautiful colour too!
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous, Cass!!! Very clever and creative with the pinked edges next to the zip and the plait for the zipper pull.
ReplyDeleteThat's just lovely Cass. I've not seen that colour felt before. So pretty as are the doillies. I've got the fabric on my dining table and that's as far as I got. This cold isn't helping. Hopefully with a kid free weekend, I'll get mine finished.

Oh that's super cute! I'd be terrified to join in something like that, cause I just don't think mine would be as pretty!
