Sunday Session #1 - Let's get the ball rolling again!

It's been a looong time since I last posted for Sunday Sessions!

So I have decided that since I promised myself that I would embrace music more in 2013, there would be no better way to stick to this promise by starting up the Sunday Sessions again.

Thea from Me & My Million Blogs has kindly passed the Sunday Session torch over to me to host!  I'm super excited about this and can't wait to learn about everyone's musical tastes and hopefully find some fab new tunes along the way too!

So without further ado...

Let's get on with my first Sunday Session Link up!!!

The Rules are pretty simple....

There are no rules!!!

You could post about ...

What you're listening to right now,
What song has been stuck in your head all week,
Your favourite tunes of all time,
What you love to sing as you sew,
...anything music related really!

Include a youtube clip of your choice(s) so that everyone can have a listen too!

Then link up here each Sunday for Sunday Sessions.

I'd love it if you could help spread the word by adding a link in your post or by sharing the Sunday Sessions button on your post or somewhere on your blog... but this isn't mandatory... only if you want!

Here's my pick for the week...

During the week I watched the Rolling Stones documentary, Crossfire Hurricane.  Growing up I wasn't too interested in the Stones, although I do remember listening to  Wild Horses as a teenager, in my bedroom.  I suppose because they weren't big in the 90's.  But now as a grown up, I'm quite fond of the Rolling Stones.

I also recently read Keith Richards, Life.  Such an interesting read!

So today I'm sharing with you a few of my favourite Rolling Stones ditties.

Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown..... Such a cool sound!  I also have a soft spot for this one because My Man the Muso does a cracking cover version of this song.  Just look at how young the lads are in this video!

Gimme Shelter - This is just one of those songs that just stops me in my tracks when ever I hear it!  So emotive!  It gives me goosebumps and really makes me sit and think.

You Can't Always Get What You Want - Just love it!  I always remember as a child hearing the version where the children's choir sing.

I much prefer their earlier produced stuff and found it quite hard to chose just three!

Are you a fan of the Stones?

Can't wait to see your 1st Sunday Session picks for 2013!

  1. I have never been a Stones fan myself but I do prefer pop to rock! I had never heard of the first two songs in your selection this week so thanks for sharing Cass and for starting this up again!

  2. Love the Stones Cass, always have and its too hard for me just to pick three. Love those you chose plus "Under My Thumb", "Sympathy for the Devil" and many more. I love those later albums too from the 80's. "Start Me Up" was a bit of an anthem for me and the girls when we were going out. LOL Love how you've brought back the Sunday Sessions!

  3. Not a big Stones fan here, even though I did see them live in Brisbane in the 90s. Paid a fortune, gotta say I was a bit disappointed.

So great to see the Sunday Session back, that's for reviving it!!

I hope you don't mind me linking my Tuesday's Tune...saves me doing another post. Can I link it up each Sunday??

  6. Adore the Stones Cass - always! I take them a hundred times over the Beatles any day! Wild Horses always brings a tear to my eye, Sympathy for the Devil is an absolute fave (it's so menacing) and Emotional Rescue reminds me of my first job working in a warehouse for the surf brand Rusty. I was a baby and all these cool surfers always cranked that song when it came on...ahhh memories!! My lovely Momma even got to see them in their hey day, so jealous! xx
